Metro uses my pictures.
I was really hyped yesterday to receive an email from the marketing team at Metro News requesting permission to use my Where’s Mike band pictures that were taken in 2009.
I had to make a quick call to the band members to get a permission for model release for the advertisement.
The advertisement for Obsession Live Lounge and Where’s Mike band is featured on page 22 of Thursday’s September 27, 2012.
Where’s Mike will be playing at Obsession on Friday September 28, 2012 at 9pm. You can check out the venue myobsession.ca
It’s always a nice to get little exposure, this one was really unexpected.
Greenfield’s pub hosts Where’s Mike final 2009 show.
Last weekend Where’s Mike had their year end show at Greenfield’s pub in Barrhaven and they sure rocked the house. At the request of Luc, the band drummer, I volunteered to photograph this final 2009 show.
The band performed an awesome 3 sets to a full crowd, the first set debuting with tributes to Kiss, Ozzy and more heavy rock genre with a gradual ease towards some tunes that invited fans to the floor for a little dancing. Their second set was all rock dancing tunes with a few slows. To conclude, true to their nature, the last set the band invited the special guests to perform.
It was an awesome evening and I only had one item to reproach Greenfield’s pub which is; When hosting a rock genre band please avoid the Madonna tunes in between sets as it really kills the mood for us rock junkies.
Awesome show, chapeau to Where’s Mike!
Here are the pictures I took.
Enjoy.

Where’s Mike?
There is a secret place in Ottawa called “La Cave a Luc” and within this dark and underground location you may find Where’s Mike. You will spot them mostly on Thursday nights practicing their cover titles but be forewarned that only their most fanatical fans may venture into The Cave!
This summer during the drummer’s birthday I brought my Nikon camera for a photo shoot. At the time I only had my built in flash and was faced with the challenge of taking good images without the washed out flash. I had to find a way to reduce the flash exposure along with retaining the ambient light of the colored spot lights. After changing my camera settings multiple times without success of getting the warm colored pictures that I was attempting to achieve, I came up with the idea of deflecting, reducing the flash output by using a white tissue and wrapping it around my flash. I was really impressed with the turn out of my pictures with such a simple solution.
Lets meet the band members and feel free to click the pictures for a better view.
I’ve been hanging with the band since they moved into The Cave location in 2002 and I’ve attended several of their concerts. If you enjoy the rock, heavy metal genre music (Kiss, Bon Jovi, Judas Priest, Nickleback to name a few) then you must see this cover band in action. They have several shows a year at their preferred location in Barrhaven at the Greenfield’s Pub. You can also check out their Facebook group for their next show schedules.
Here’s a little demo video captured by a fan… enjoy!
